One of the company's most popular vehicles
The Ram Rebel truck is being revealed Tuesday at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and for the FCA US brand it's been on the short list of updates to one of the company's most popular vehicles.
FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne told the media afterward that the pickup will be a barometer for the Ram line-up's direction going froward.
"One of the things that Rebel will do for us, is ... it has the very distinctive styling, and as you all know we're working on the next generation Rams," Marchionne said Tuesday. "And so I think it will give us an idea as to what market reaction is towards very drastic change (to the truck). It's a very young, very sporty truck."
The full-size, light-duty Ram Rebel 1500 has a fairly significantly different grille from other, current 1500s available, with a prominent "RAM" badge, along with new tow hooks and LED fog lamps in the front.
Under-the-hood options include a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque and a fuel economy of 25 miles per gallon, or a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque.
The truck will be available in five colors: Granite Crystal Metallic, Bright Silver Metallic, Flame Red, Bright White and Brilliant Black, and in wither monotone and two-tone paint. It will be available as a 4X2 or 4X4.
